Common Name: Sawtooth Pipefish

Distribution: Uncommon in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Endemic to southern Australia it is found from northern New South Wales, to south western Western Australia and including Tasmania.

Ecological Notes: Frequents offshore islands, coastal marine rocky reefs and estuaries. Depth to at least 15 m.

Additional Notes: A small cryptic species not often encountered. As with other pipehorses, the male has a brood pouch just under the tail where it carries the eggs. Grows to about 8 cm.
