- Australian Museum Fish Site – over 1100 fact sheets, data links to Atlas of Living Australia site giving recorded distributions.
- Dave Harasti’s Underwater Photo Gallery – hasn’t been updated in a few years, but a good pictorial resource for marine life primarily in Nelson Bay.
- Fish Base – virtually every species of fish on earth. Search by family, genus, species. Pictures and video clips available. Valuable species description and distribution information.
- Fishes of Australia – Hosted by Museums Victoria, has thousands of marine and freshwater species, with image galleries and identification notes.
- Sea Slug Forum – an Australian Museum site where you can find information on sea slugs including nudibranchs, bubble-shells, sea hares and side-gilled slugs. Includes species lists, pictures, etc.
- Reef Life Survey – Australian and International fish and mobile invertebrate species images and identification notes. Huge searchable data base of species abundance and distribution. Valuable research tool.
- Diving Nelson Bay – Fish and invertebrate id’s, updates on Port Stephens Sea Slug Census.
- NudiKey – Identification key for nudibranch species.
- Roboastra – Nudibranchs and other invertebrates of the Tweed Byron coast
- iNaturalist – huge searchable database of many of the world’s species, marine and terrestrial.
