ABOUT US
The Solitary Islands Underwater Research Group Inc. (SURG), is a group of dedicated citizen scientists that conduct research in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Formed in 1985, SURG membership comprises underwater naturalists, photographers, scuba divers and others, and our research activities have provided habitat information and other data which has been used for the ongoing management of the Solitary Islands Marine Park, and by university researchers and students.
New members are always welcome. While we are primarily interested in the underwater environment, it is not necessary to be a SCUBA diver to be part of SURG activities, and non-diving members are also welcome. Training sessions are provided to help members wishing to take part in our research projects.
SURG is incorporated under the Model Rules for the Incorporation of Associations, Associations Incorporation Act 2009 No 7.
