Common Name: Variegated Fairywren

Distribution: Found throughout Australia, being absent only from Cape York Peninsula, Tasmania and the extreme south-west corner of Western Australia.

Ecological Notes: Occupies forest, woodland and shrubland and hind dune plant communities. A wide range of small animals, mostly insects, including ants, grasshoppers, bugs, flies, weevils and various larvae are preyed upon.

Additional Notes: Variegated Fairywrens forage deep inside shrubby vegetation, which is less than 2 m above the ground.
