Lobiger viridis
(Pease, 1863)

Distribution: Status in the Solitary Islands Marine Park unknown. Recorded from the tropical Indo-Pacific region. In Australia there are records from the Great Barrier Reef and Lord Howe Island.

Ecological Notes: Specimen pictured found in intertidal rockpool. Known to feed on Caulerpa sp. algae.

Additional Notes: Specimen pictured has been disturbed and has raised its parapodial “tentacles” effectively doubling its size to deter predators. In extreme circumstances it is able to discard these tentacles in the process known as autotomy. Specimen pictured approximately 10 mm long, but is known to grow to at least 30 mm in length.
