Common Name: Twotone Wrasse

Distribution: Uncommon in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Distributed throughout the Western Pacific: east to Samoa and Tonga. In Australia recorded from the northern Great Barrier Reef, Queensland south to the central coast of New South Wales.

Ecological Notes: Frequents lagoons and seaward reefs, drop offs and around large caves. Depth to 40 m.

Additional Notes: Blue purple face grading to light yellow tail with black marking on front of dorsal fin. Juveniles pale blue anteriorly with four horizontal black stripes and light yellow posteriorly. Usually solitary. Grows to at least 13 cm.
