Common Name: Twospot Sandgoby

Distribution: Rare in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Distributed throughout the Indo-West Pacific region, East Africa to the Society Islands, north to the Ogasawara Islands. In Australia recorded from the coast of Western Australia between Geraldton and Exmouth, Ashmore Reef, the Coral Sea and Great Barrier Reef in Queensland south to Gladstone, also Middleton Reef and Lord Howe Island.  

Ecological Notes: Frequents sand and rubble depressions in and around rocky and coral reefs. Depth to 46 m.

Additional Notes: Pale translucent body, short brown bars on back, one extending onto the first dorsal fin. Small orange-brown spots tending to blotches on head. Feeds on small crustaceans and molluscs. Grows to 6 cm.
