Common Name: Southern Demoiselle

Distribution: Uncommon in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Recorded from the western Pacific – New Caledonia, Lord Howe Is, Norfolk Is and eastern Australia.

Ecological Notes: Frequents rocky reef areas, depths from 7 to 45 m.

Additional Notes: Elongate appearance with long, sometimes untidy looking fins. Fine blue edging to dorsal and anal fins. Oviparous, pair during breeding after which eggs are deposited on the substrate. Males guard and aerate the eggs. Grows to 9 cm.
