Common Name: Venus Clam
Distribution: Possibly common in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Family represented worldwide. Distributed down the east coast of Australia from Torres Strait to southern New South Wales.
Ecological Notes: Frequents sand and rubble habitat.
Additional Notes: A filter feeder adapted for life in soft sediments. A highly developed gill system is used for feeding as well as respiration in most species. Specimen in photo about 25 mm across.
