Distribution: Not commonly recorded from the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Widely distributed in the Indo-Pacific region. More common in the Great Barrier Reef, south to at least Lord Howe Island off the east coast of Australia.
Ecological Notes: Frequents coral and rocky reef where its preferred food source, the green algae, Chlorodesmis fastigiata is found.
Additional Notes: Variable colouration, through red, orange and yellow. Species distinguished from similar C. nigra by having a white outer edge to the cerrata. The cerrata may be cast off by the process of autotomy, and secrete distasteful toxins if the animal is disturbed. Believed to feed on algae, Chlorodesmus sp. Grows to at least 40 mm in length.
