Berthella stellata
(Risso, 1826)

Distribution: Common in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Worldwide distribution in tropical and temperate waters. In Australia recorded from Perth in Western Australia and southern Queensland and northern New South Wales.

Ecological Notes: Found under rocks and coral slabs, from intertidal to at least 12 m depth.

Additional Notes: A relatively small species it may be recognised by the white “star” pattern and diagonal white spots on the dorsal surface. Recorded feeding on Plakina sp. sponges. Grows to about 20 mm.
