Distribution: Not commonly seen in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Australian endemic. In Australia recorded from Geraldton in Western Australia, around the tropical north to southern Queensland on the east coast.
Ecological Notes: A night active species that prefers sand and rubble bottom. Depth to at least 72 m.
Additional Notes: Short banded spines, believed to be venomous. See also Asthenosoma varium. Grows to at least 200 mm.
