The SURG Christmas party will be held on Saturday, 25th November, at the Harry Weller shelter in Boambee Creek reserve. This year, members and guests are invited to participate in an early afternoon snorkel near the bridge and adjacent rock walls. The tide will be incoming at the proposed time of 3pm and will give members an opportunity to enjoy a snorkel or swim before the party proper starts around 5pm.
Please note there is an entry fee of $6 per vehicle (card only) into the reserve. Once through the gate, turn hard right and the Harry Weller shelter is the last one before the rail overpass.
Bring your swimming or snorkelling gear, or a kayak even, and something for the barbecue and gathering later.
The shelter is equipped with plenty of tables to spread out your Christmas ware and there is an electric barbecue for those wishing to cook their meal. There will be a raffle with some good prizes to help raise funds for ongoing SURG activities. In the absence of regular face-to-face meetings since Covid, this is an excellent opportunity for members, and especially those newer members that may not yet have had an opportunity to meet other members personally, to mingle and have a good time in a very pleasant setting. Merry Christmas!
