Distribution: Common throughout the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Distributed throughout the Indo-Pacific region, Japan, Hawaii. In Australia recorded from Western Australia across the north of the continent south through Queensland.
Ecological Notes: Frequents several species of sea star, including Acanthaster, Culcita, Choriaster and Linckia spp. often on the undersides of the host.
Additional Notes: Body colour may vary according to host, variable markings often with speckled pattern, sometimes with a wide stripe down centre of back. Back profile somewhat flattened making abrupt downward curve to elongate tail base. Cryptic colouration and small size means they are often overlooked. Grow to around 11 mm.
