Distribution: Relatively common throughout the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Known from New Guinea, Indonesia and Japan. In Australia recorded from around Exmouth in Western Australia, the Northern Territory, the Coral Sea and Great Barrier Reef in Queensland, south to northern New South Wales.

Ecological Notes: Commonly found on the fronds of gorgonians and among the branches of black coral trees.

Additional Notes: Colour variable, from brown to black and green as well as red or orange. Usually with central white stripe. Not often seen due to its cryptic colouration, only close examination of the host will reveal its presence. Grows to around 15 mm carapace length.
