Distribution: Uncommon in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Temperate species found around the south eastern coast of Australia from the Solitary Islands to Spencer Gulf in South Australia, including around Tasmania.
Ecological Notes: Frequents a variety of habitats, most often sheltered rocky areas. Depth to 30 m.
Additional Notes: Upper surface covered in blunt spines and rounded tubercles, often with a visible madreporite. Variable colouration with five blunt ended arms. Grows to 250 mm across.
