Common Name: Clark’s Threefin
Distribution: Common in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Distributed throughout the Eastern Indian Ocean: endemic to Australia it is found from Perth in Western Australia, around the south of the continent north to northern New South Wales on the east coast, and including around Tasmania.
Ecological Notes: Adults frequent shallow rocky reefs in coastal waters and estuaries, frequently seen on jetty pylons. Depth to 13 m.
Additional Notes: Variably grey to brown or orange, usually with seven evenly spaced ventrally divided dark bars, distinct backward curving stripe below eye (indistinct in this specimen). Large black blotch on first dorsal fin. Eggs have sticky threads attached which anchor them to algae until hatched. Grows to 8 cm.
