Thylacodes sipho
(Lamarck, 1818)

Distribution: Uncommon in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Endemic to Australia and found from northern Western Australia around the south of the continent to north Queensland and around Tasmania.

Ecological Notes: Found on subtidal exposed reef, rock platforms.

Aditional Notes: Members of this family live in worm-like tubes and have an irregularly coiled shell, the early whorls of which are attached to the substrate, and may be up to 70 mm long. Feeds on fine particles of organic matter, trapped in a string of mucous. Species in this genus have no operculum. Formerly known as Serpulorbis sipho.
