Sacoproteus smaragdinus
(Baba, 1949)

Distribution: Possibly common in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Known from southern states of Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia and Japan.

Ecological Notes: Found on algal food source, especially Caulerpa racemosa. Depth range to at least 8 m.

Additional Notes: Algal colour pigments are retained in the digestive system and the dorsal cerrata match the bubble like bladders of its food source, making this animal exremely difficult to find. Previously known as Stiliger smaragdinus. Grows to 50 mm.
