Pictilabrus laticlavius

Common Name: Senator Wrasse

Distribution: Common in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Distributed throughout the Eastern Indian Ocean: endemic to Australian waters it is found from northern New South Wales to Western Australia, including Tasmania.

Ecological Notes: Frequents rocky reef areas with heavy weed coverage. Depth to 40 m.

Additional Notes: Colour may vary with habitat, brown or reddish in red algae dominated areas, greenish in other habitats. Often found in inshore waters where kelp abounds. A benthic feeder taking a variety of invertebrates. Grows to 23 cm.
