Distribution: Common throughout the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Endemic to Australia. Distributed around southern Australia from Shark Bay to southern Queensland and around Tasmania.
Ecological Notes: Prefers shallow sheltered waters where it feeds on a variety of sponges and bryozoans. Depth to 160 m.
Additional Notes: Various shades of dark to light red with white netted appearance, slightly longer arm length and raised dorsal plates in southern Western Australian specimens. Grows to about 110 mm.
