Common Name: Golden Bullseye
Distribution: Uncommon in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Distributed throughout Indo-West Pacific region: from South Africa to Vanuatu, north to the Philippines and south to Australia. In Australia recorded from Shark Bay in Western Australia, across the tropical north, the Coral Sea and Great Barrier Reef in Queensland south to the New South Wales border.
Ecological Notes: Frequents caves and overhangs during the day, often in large to very large aggregations. Depth to at least 550 m.
Additional Notes: Recognised by the yellowish head, faint black tips on the caudal fin lobes and faint vertical line on the caudal peduncle. Feeds on zooplankton in the water column at night. Grows to 10 cm.
