Common Name: Horned Blenny
Distribution: Common in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Endemic to Australia, recorded from northern Queensland to southern New South Wales.
Ecological Notes: Frequents estuarine and coastal environments particularly river entrances and lakes, often found around pilings of bridges and wharves, deeper pools and channels in intertidal rock platforms. Depth from 1 – 10 m.
Additional Notes: Variable colouration, from dark grey to brown with a series of moderate sized spots along sides. Multilobate filaments above each eye, large and filamentous in males. Feeds on a mixed diet of algae and invertebrates. This species is oviparous, the eggs adhering to the substrate. Grows to 12 cm.
