Ophidiaster confertus
(H.L. Clark, 1916)

Distribution: Common throughout the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Endemic to Australia, from Queensland south to Shellharbour in New South Wales, and at Norfolk and Lord Howe Islands.

Ecological Notes: Frequents rocky and coral reefs, rocky shorelines, to a depth of at least 50 m.

Additional Notes: Five cylindrical blunt tipped arms, usually brown/orange colouration. Feeds on sessile invertebrates and algae. Grows to about 230 mm diameter.
