Stiliger aureomarginatus (Jensen, 1993)

Distribution: 

Possibly common in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Recorded from the Indo-West Pacific region, Japan and New Zealand. In Australia recorded from central Western Australia, Heron Island and the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, south to at least Sydney in New South Wales.

Ecological Notes: 

Known to feed on Codium sp. algae, possibly C. intricatum and C. fragilis. Specimen in lower photograph feeding on Codium platyclados.

Additional Notes: 

Small size and habitat ensure sightings are uncommon to rare. Colour on the tips of the cerrata may vary from pale yellow to bright orange, rolled rhinophores pale blue/grey. Grows to 10 mm but commonly 3-5 mm in length.
