Very rare in Solitary Islands Marine Park. Found in Indo-West Pacific, but mainly south west Pacific. In Australia recorded from Heron Island and Port Stephens in New South Wales.
Found in inter-tidal areas to a depth of 20 m. Known to feed on sponges of the genus Euryspongia.
This small dorid is characterised by yellow to golden brown irregular spots on a white mantle. The mantle edge has a band of watery purple, darker spots with yellow crescents or spots around these darker areas. Previously known as Chromodoris aureopurpurea. Grows to 35 mm.
