Distribution: Common in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. The subspecies is endemic to Australia; recorded from all states excluding Tasmania.
Ecological Notes: Nocturnal animals spending daylight hours buried in mud or sand. Intertidal to at least 77 m depth.
Additional Notes: Shell moderately light weight, white to cream in colour, ornamented with thin crisp spiral brown lines. The animal is coloured cream with black spots, operculum reddish-brown. Very mobile carnivorous scavengers that prey primarily on other molluscs. Female members of this family deposit small egg capsules on the substrate or onto other mollusc shells, eventually hatching long lived planktonic larvae. Grows to at least 32 mm, commonly 25 mm in length.
