Distribution: Uncommon in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Found throughout the Indo-West Pacific, from the Red Sea, Philippines and New Guinea, Indonesia and Japan. In Australia recorded from the east coast in southern Queensland, New South Wales and at Lord Howe Island.

Ecological Notes: Found from low tide to a depth of 25 m on rocky reef. Feeds on sponges.

Additional Notes: The striking markings, depth of body and large size make this dorid easily recognisable. The mantle has a row of 3 pustules in ascending height along the midline, with the largest in front of the gills. The foot is small and tall and the tail extends a considerable distance behind the mantle. Colours may vary from bluish through green or purple. Grows to 85 mm.
