Distribution: Uncommon in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Distributed throughout the Indo-Pacific region. In Australia recorded from Exmouth in Western Australia, Queensland and northern New South Wales.
Ecological Notes: Frequents overhangs, small caves and crevices where it establishes cleaning stations for fishes. Specimens in photographs at a depth of 21 m.
Additional Notes: Red back with white median stripe from rostrum to tail, yellow sides and belly, with long white antennae. Known to be a cleaner shrimp on fish species where it removes old skin and small parasites, see lower photograph with Gymnothorax nudivomer. Specimens pictured around 40 mm body length. Grows to 60 mm.
