Scyllarides squammosus (H. Milne Edwards, 1837)

Common Name: 
Slipper Lobster
Distribution: 

Common in the Solitary Island Marine Park. Distributed throughout the Indo-West Pacific Region. In Australia recorded from waters of the Gulf of Carpentaria, Queensland and New South Wales south to around Sydney.

Ecological Notes: 

Often found on the roofs of caves and overhangs in inshore reef areas during daylight hours. Depth to 80 m.

Additional Notes: 

Shades of orange and brown, flattened antennae with fairly smooth or weakly spined edges. Grows to a total length of  350 - 400 mm.
