Distribution: Uncommon in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Distributed throughout the Indo-Pacific region. In Australia recorded from around Perth in Western Australia, across the tropical north to the Northern Territory, in the Great Barrier Reef south to northern New South Wales.

Ecological Notes: Frequents rocky and coral reefs, from the shallow subtidal to depths of at least 29 m.

Additional Notes: Colour variable through browns, pinks, olive green or yellow. Has long slender arms and almost no central disc. Distinguished from similar Linckia laevigata by longer arms and usually a colour other than blue. Grows to 32 cm.
