Hypselodoris maculosa
(Pease, 1871)

Distribution: Uncommon in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Considered uncommon throughout its range in the Indo-West Pacific region. In Australia known from around Exmouth in Western Australia, Ashmore Reef in the Timor Sea, the Great Barrier reef south to northern New South Wales, including Lord Howe Island.

Ecological Notes: Found inter-tidally and to a depth of 18 m on reef edges. Feeds on sponges, especially Eurospongia sp.

Additional Notes: This chromodorid has a pale creamish-pink body with 5 or 6 narrow longitudinal white lines and an undulating red/purple margin. White and dark purple spots dot the mantle and foot. Grows to 30 mm.
