Common Name: Black-winged Stilt, Pied Stilt.
Distribution: Mainland Australia.
Ecological Notes: Occupy freshwater and saltwater marshes, mudflats, and the shallow edges of lakes and rivers, coastal bays and inlets. Black-winged Stilts pick up their food, mainly insects and crustaceans, from the surface of sand or water.
Additional Notes: They typically forage by wading in water up to belly deep, but on occasion along the muddy margins of wetlands and estuaries.
