Distribution: Rare in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Previously recorded no further south than Hastings Point in northern New South Wales. Distributed widely throughout the tropical West Pacific region.
Ecological Notes: Has been recorded feeding on dark purple sponge Chelonaplysilla violacea. Depth to at least 20 m.
Additional Notes: Similar in appearance to Hypselodoris tryoni, best distinguished by the form of the purple spots, which in this species usually form a squarish hollow ring. Other differences include the colour of the rhinophores which in G. leopardus are light with a darker vertical line. Grows to at least 50 mm.
