Goniobranchus kuniei
(Pruvot-Fol, 1930)

Distribution: Rare in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Distributed throughout the tropical West Pacific region, from Bali and the Philippines to Tonga and Fiji. In Australia recorded from the Dampier Archipelago, the North West Shelf in Western Australia, the Coral Sea and Great Barrier Reef south to Heron Island in Queensland. 

Ecological Notes: Frequents rocky and coral reef, depth to at least 25 m. Thought to feed on Aplysilla, Darwinella or Dysidea sponges.

Additional Notes: Yellowish mantle with broad purple margin often comprising darker purple inner and outer bands. Numerous purple ringed dark spots often within diffuse reticulated brownish pattern on the mantle surface. Rhinophores and gills similar colour to mantle surface. Characteristically raises and lowers mantle skirt when crawling. Grows to 6 cm. This specimen the first recorded in the Solitary Islands Marine Park.
