Favonigobius exquisitus
(Whitley, 1950)

Common Name: Exquisite Sandgoby

Distribution: Common in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Distributed throughout the south west Pacific region. In Australia recorded from northern Queensland south to the Victorian border.

Ecological Notes: Frequents intertidal zones, tide pools, coastal bays and estuaries, to a depth of at least 10 m.

Additional Notes: Mottled brownish background with a row of black spots below midline. Large adults with red spots on dorsal fin. Feeds on small crustaceans, polychaete worms and other invertebrates. Grows to 9 cm.
