Distribution: Common throughout the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Distributed throughout the Indo-West Pacific, in Australia found from the Houtman Abrolhos Islands across the tropical north to Eden in southern New South Wales.
Ecological Notes: Found in shallow lagoons or intertidal reef, sheltering by day under rocks or coral slabs and feeding at night.
Additional Notes: Base and sides of shell white to fawn, sides marked with vertical streaks. Rectangular brown blotches on both sides of shell. Dorsum light yellowish brown covered with medium sized brown spots and fine white spots. Teeth coarse and white to creamy white, and extend half way across the outer lip. Grows to 75 mm but usually to 35 mm.
