Enchelycore ramosa
(Griffin, 1926)

Common Name: Mosaic Moray

Distribution: Uncommon in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Distributed throughout the South Pacific ocean, from eastern Australia to Rapa and Easter Islands. In Australia recorded from around South West Rocks south to Ulladulla in New South Wales, and including Lord Howe Island where it is relatively common.

Ecological Notes: Frequents rocky and coral reef, depth to 40 m.

Additional Notes: Yellowish body with pattern of brown spots and reticulations on head and body. Long narrow lower jaw, many prominent needle-like teeth. Secretive species, often only the head is seen protruding from the reef. Grows to 150 cm.
