Common Name: Goram Dragonet

Distribution: Uncommon in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Known from the western Pacific Ocean region: north to southeastern China and the Ryukyu Islands, east to Fiji, south to the Great Barrier Reef and Norfolk Island. In Australia recorded from the North West Shelf region of Western Australia and the Great Barrier Reef area of Queensland, and including Norfolk Island. 

Ecological Notes: Frequents coastal bays and estuaries, sandy gutters adjacent to rocky reef, depth from 5 to at least 40 m.

Additional Notes: Camouflaged and difficult to see on the sandy substrate where it may bury completely, then usually noted only if disturbed. Has a ventrolateral fold of skin below lateral line which presents as a row of white protuberances. Feeds on a range of benthic invertebrates. Grows to 10 cm.
