Common Name: Black Swan
Distribution: Eastern and western mainland Australia and Tasmania.
Ecological Notes: Occupies deep permanent water, open lakes, wetlands, and coastal estuaries and bays. Black Swans feed on aquatic plants in shallow water, or on open pastures close to water.
Additional Notes: Vegetation is obtained by plunging its long neck into water up to 1 m deep. Swans are clumsy walkers on land.
