Common Name: Goldlined Wrasse
Distribution: Uncommon in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Recorded from the Western Pacific region. In Australia recorded from Central Queensland south to Sydney in New South Wales.
Ecological Notes: Frequents shallower areas of sandy rubble often with dense algal cover. Depth to at least 10 m.
Additional Notes: Distinctive colouration, gold and green lines on top half of body with pale gold lined belly. Juvenile with an ocellus about two-thirds the way along the dorsal fin and another smaller one on the upper tail base, see large juvenile in bottom photograph. Shy and hard to approach. Commonly found in kelp dominated areas. Grows to 14 cm.
