Conus capitaneus
(Linnaeus, 1758)

Distribution: Uncommon in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Distributed generally through the Indo-West Pacific region. In Australia from North West Cape in Western Australia, across the tropical north to eastern Queensland and northern New South Wales.

Ecological Notes: Frequents coral habitat, often found under coral slabs and rocks.

Additional Notes: Members of this family are carnivorous predators and feed on molluscs, worms and small fish. Grows up to 100 mm in length.
