Distribution: Uncommon in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Known from the east coast of Australia, Norfolk and Lord Howe Island.
Ecological Notes: Rocky reef areas with soft sediment. Depth from 30 to 180 m.
Additional Notes: Rounded test with a flattish base, covered with short white spines. Members of this Family are known to remain buried during daylight hours, coming forth to feed on the soft sediment at night. Grows to 140 mm test diameter.
