Distribution: Uncommon to rare in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Distributed throughout the tropical Indo-West Pacific region. In Australia recorded from around Exmouth in Western Australia, across the tropical north, the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland south to Port Stephens in New South Wales.

Ecological Notes: Found on or near its food source on piles, walls and reefs. Feeds on pink encrusting sponges, members of the family Darwinellidae. Intertidal to 22 m depth. 

Additional Notes: White background with thin black lines, distinct from C. lineolata which has a black background and white lines. There is a white line on the inside of the orange margin, the gills and rhinophores are orange with white spots. Pale specimens have distinct dark blotches on the mantle surface. This animal has been identified as being similar to C. striatella, the “cf”  meaning to “compare to”. Grows to 58 mm.
