Common Name: Weber’s Puller

Distribution: Common in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Distributed throughout the Indo-Pacific region, from the Red Sea and East Africa to the Line Islands, southern Japan south to New Caledonia. In Australia recorded from Shark Bay in Western Australia, across the tropical north to Torres Strait, south to northern New South Wales.

Ecological Notes: Frequents islands and outer reefs with steep slopes. Depth from 3 to at least 40 m.

Additional Notes: Occurs singly or in aggregations, with distinct pairing during breeding. Eggs are attached to the substrate where they are guarded and aerated by the male. Distinguished from similar looking Chromis lepidolepis by presence of vertical bars on cheek. Grows to 13 cm.
