Common Name: Yellowback Puller

Distribution: Common in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Distributed through the Western Pacific region. In Australia recorded from northern Queensland to northern New South Wales and including Lord Howe Island.

Ecological Notes: Frequents outer edges of reefs rich in coral growth, sometimes in lagoons. Depths to at least 25 m.

Additional Notes: Distinctive olive/yellow back with white belly and black “scissor tail” marking on caudal fin, distinct black spot on pectoral fin base. Juveniles similar colouration to adults. Grows to about 9 cm.
