Chromis hypsilepis
(Gunther, 1867)

Common Name: One Spot Puller

Distribution: Abundant in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. East coast Australia from northern New South Wales to eastern Bass Strait, Lord Howe and Norfolk Island, northern New Zealand.

Ecological Notes: Frequents offshore reefs and islands especially in high surge areas. Depth to 40 m.

Additional Notes: Blue-gray or green-gray, these are often seen in large schools, feeding on zooplankton in midwater. White spot (sometimes faint or blotchy) and black pectoral fin base are indicative. Male guards large numbers of eggs on hard substrate. Grows to 15 cm.
