Common Name: Australian Wood Duck
Distribution: Eastern and south-western mainland Australia and Tasmania.
Ecological Notes: Occupies freshwater wetlands, grasslands and lightly wooded areas.The Australian Wood Duck eats grasses, grains, clover and other herbs, and occasionally, insects.
Additional Notes: Occasionally observed foraging adjacent to estuaries, also perched on tree branches, especially when nesting in tree hollow.
