Centropyge heraldi
(Woods and Schultz, 1953)

Common Name: Yellow Angelfish

Distribution: Rare in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Indo-Pacific distribution, from Sri Lank and Bali to the Indo-Malay archipelago and the Marshall Islands. In Australia recorded only from the Great Barrier Reef.

Ecological Notes: Inhabits steep outer reef slopes and occasionally lagoons. Depth to 90 m.

Additional Notes: Hebivorous, males may form harems with 2 to 4 females. Similar Centropyge flavissima lacks black smudge on the face and has blue rings around the eyes. Grows to 12 cm.
