Common Name: Lemonpeel Angelfish
Distribution: Rare in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Distributed throughout the Indo-Pacific region, Cocos-Keeling Atoll to the Line and Marquesas Islands, north to the Ryuku Islands, south to New Caledonia and Rapa. Absent from Indonesia and Malaysia. In Australia recorded from scattered locations on the Great Barrier Reef.
Ecological Notes: Frequents seaward reefs and lagoons, coral rich areas. Depth to at least 50 m.
Additional Notes: Separated from similar Centropyge heraldi by the blue ring around the eye and the orange blotch on the pectoral fin base. Feeds on algae, have been observed feeding on damselfish eggs adhering to the substrate. Frequently sought by the aquarium trade. Grows to 14 cm.
